Coco, who lost a hind leg to a previous injury, gave birth privately and without assistance while we were busy cleaning nearby — true to her quiet, independent nature. While we missed the moment in real time, a later review of our cameras revealed something remarkable: Diego, one of our trusted Colorado Mountain Dogs, was right there with her. Calm, steady, and attentive, he gently stayed by Coco’s side as she brought Coal into the world — a testament to the deep bond between our animals.
Coal has inherited Coco’s calm demeanor and is already forming tight, tidy curls across his sleek frame. We’ll be finalizing availability after our 2025 kidding season wraps up in May.
